MARCH MEETING: Friday, March 8, 2024 at 7:30 pm. Conformation practice will be held at 7 pm.
A Message to the Membership:
Hello GSDCGNH Members,
Is there anyone who attends our Conformation Shows that is currently certified in CPR/First Aid?
AKC requires an Emergency and Disaster Plan to be in place at every AKC event held. They suggest, not require, that a CPR/First Aid person be on the grounds during show hours.
If you are certified and willing to be recognized as such at our shows, please contact me.
If you are not certified but have a willingness to do so, the club will reimburse 50% (up to ~$70) for you to take the class, get certified and agree to be available for 2 years (life of certification) for our Conformation shows. If you are interested, please contact me for more information on classes or other details or contact Code One (860-786-1789) or Health Force (866-277-9593). The course name is "Heart Saver" First Aid/CPR AED. Our other venues have been covered, however there are conflicting dates at different sites.
Show Chairperson.... John Vaught has decided to retire from that position which he has held for many years, effective with the October shows. Thank you John for all your work!
We are in search of a person that is willing to take on that position, under John's guidance. However, we need that person to make the commitment soon since there are many behind the scene activities that must be done prior to the show. This position also requires you to be on-site the day of the show, all day. You are allowed by AKC rules to participate as an exhibitor. As most of you are aware, our October shows (2) usually conflict with our National. Since we are not within the 200 air mile requirement, AKC will not let us opt out of our shows. We do need a commitment by March. If you are interested, please contact John Vaught directly.
Attached is a copy of our Bylaws. Please save it to a file or print it for your personal use. The most current version is 2006.
A reminder ... Linda Ciocci- Futurity / Maturity Chairperson, is seeking donations for the Futurity, June 9, 2024. The forms and information have also been posted to our website or contact Linda. Also needed are volunteers. Contact Linda if you are willing to help with the many positions available.
June 1 and 2, 2024 is our Scent Work Trial at the Terryville Fairgrounds. We need 15 to 20 volunteers each day. This trial is running with 5 judges all day, both days. Detective has been added this year. There are many positions that do not require standing or walking. Volunteering is a great way to learn about the spot. If you are interested, contact Stefanie Mount. Stefanie has offered again this year, to coordinate and instruct all volunteers. Mark your calendars, June 30, 2024 will be our Temperament Test, also offered: CGC /CGCA and AKC Trick Dog Novice. This will be held in conjunction with our annual club picnic. Flyer and more details will be coming.
